ACER Pavillion :

London 2012 Olympics

Client: ACER

Brief

Deliver innovative and engaging content for ACER at the London 2012 Olympics, creating a pavilion experience that showcased technology, interactivity, and ACER’s commitment to sustainability and future innovation.

Response

Partnering with the talented design team at PICO, we helped visualise multiple pavilion options and walkthroughs, contributing to the design that eventually won the contract.

For the exterior, we produced 2D and 3D content and branding for an innovative LED screen with moving hydraulic panels, this allowed us to program and create synchronized wave animations and key messaging that captivated passers-by.

Inside the pavilion, the experience focused on interactivity and technology. We pioneered a method for visitors to create their own avatars (2012!) to access games and activations throughout the space. The experience culminated in a holographic theatre show blending live actors, digital doubles, and projected imagery to tell ACER’s story of sustainability and technological innovation, seamlessly integrating digital and physical elements in a truly immersive way.

Outcome

The ACER pavilion became one of the most visited and talked-about experiences of London 2012, attracting over 50,000 visitors during the Games. The avatar-based interactive experiences increased visitor engagement, with over 80% of attendees participating in the digital games and activations.

The holographic theatre show and exterior LED animations generated significant media coverage and social media buzz, reinforcing ACER’s brand as a pioneering technology leader.
